Hot Topics: Getting Over a Cold Edition

It seems like getting a cold around this time of year is inevitable. Once someone in the house comes down with a cold, theres no escaping it. Hopefully I’ll get better by this coming Thursday. I’m flying to Houston TX with my girlfriend to check out houses in Sugar Land and Richmond TX. As some of you may recall, I’m moving there to greatly accelerate the growth of my money. I wrote about that in leaving San Francisco to build wealth. Oh boy, I’m literally coughing after every few words. Bare with me though, theres some great articles on other sites that I want to share with you. Here goes.

Isn’t that how we got into this mess? KMC asks a very good question in this short post. The economic stimulus package coupled with low interest rates will trigger a wave of cheap money, which is how the housing bubble started to inflate. I think that the weakening US dollar and inflation will sneak up quickly and before you know it we’ll have a situation like the 80s. However, I would like to believe that the US government is too smart to allow our nation to get into deep trouble, am I being optimistic?

Bicycling Brooke is going to start biking 14 miles to work. Congrats to her for doing so. Bicycling is something I would like to do more often once I move out of the big city (don’t wanna get hit every 3 blocks). It saves you money and it burns calories. Its a stress reliever and it doesn’t harm the environment. Looks like a win-win across the board.

Past year of mutual fund reviews and their performance. Jeremy gives some insights on the performance of some well known funds as well as relatively unknown funds. CGMRX looks very good to me, being a RE fund that also goes beyond investing in brick and mortar. Their 2007 return was phenomenal.

How I stomach the market’s bumpy ride. Millionaire Mommy has a lot of money invested in the stock market, so it’s great to know how she puts her mind at ease through these tougher times. All are great tips and the hardest to do is #2, stop checking every single day if you’ve made or lost money. Its not worth it. Even if you made a killing on one trading day you won’t sell off and retire, so why bother?
