Hot Topics: Money Socket is Back Edition

Not even a bad server can keep us away for that long, we’re back! I hope you all spent some quality time with  in your lives during this past week. If you’re a frequent visitor I’m sure you noticed that our website has been acting very strange lately. We’ve actually had server issues for 5-6 weeks now, ever since some articles got “stumbled” through Stumble Upon. I have received reassurances from our hosting company, who moved us around to other servers and made adjustments, but eventually the site just went dead about a week ago and started pointing to a suspended account page. Luckily, I had initiated a complete site migration to a new server/hosting company that same week. Here we are, back and better than ever with our new host, 1and1. Although there may be some minor bugs, everything for the most part is working fine. This goes to show that sometimes being cheap doesn’t mean being frugal. My discount hosting company took this site down and my e-commerce site along with it in the hottest selling week of the year. Up to this day that site is still down. Lesson learned.

Well, just because this site was down doesn’t mean I was drawn away from the internet. Let’s check out some great articles of the week from other amazing sites.

Are You Taxed by Your Taxes? Tina gives some tips for people like me, who are always filing last minute. It’s much like property taxes in real estate, if you don’t budget for it, it’ll hit you like a ton of bricks. The best thing to do is to realize that you will be responsible for income tax each and every year and prepare for it.

Playing for Perfect Personal Finance. The lazy man shoots for 16-0 in his personal finance career. He gives some great tips on how to accomplish the seemingly impossible. This is an easy to read and fun article. Also congrats to the Patriots for accomplishing what they set out to do, they have a very solid team.

Teens Don’t Save For Retirement. Jeremy comments on an alarming trend and gives some advice on how we can change things. I definitely believe the core of the problem is due to lack of education and the media’s embrace of materialism. From what I can see, not only are young people not saving any money, they are spending money they don’t even have. Everything is on credit these days, high interest credit at that. Dealing with this issue is actually one of the reasons why I started this site. Hopefully I can change the way some people handle their finances.

Get Rich Slowly’s Greatest Hits (2007 Edition) I really like JD’s site. He’s an awesome writer and motivational to both readers and other writers alike. He presents a list of the best articles of 2007. I’ve bookmarked it and I’m definitely reading every single article if I haven’t done so already.
