Why do I cover so many topics in this blog?
As some of you may notice through these early stages of my blog, I tend to write about many topics. So far I included content about real estate investing, banking, entrepreneurship, insurance, and cars. I’ve also talked about my personal experiences and what is going on with my projects. I plan to later write more about e-commerce, selling on eBay, motivational topics, and new topics that I learn more about. The question that I’ve been getting is why do I cover so many topics. Why not just cover a specific topic, create a niche blog. To further elaborate the short answer on my About M:S page, I’ve decided to write this post.
Most sites and blogs will cover one specific topic, such as site that covers only real estate topics (realtytimes.com), or a site that covers the stock market. That seems to be advantageous to both the reader as well as the site owners. The reader checks back every now and then to get some insight on that topic. The owners of the site just focuses on one topic so the research is concentrated and they can leverage their time. They may even receive a higher ranking with search engines if they focus on one topic because it is believed that if you focus on a narrow topic, the search engines will see the site as an authority on the topic. Thats good for the millions of sites out there that specialize on a specific topic. I however, decided to go another direction with this site.
First, I decided not to focus on a narrow topic because this site is not just about one aspect of wealth generation and preservation, but rather the journey itself to financial freedom, riches, wealth, whatever you want to call it. Throughout your journey, you will encounter all of these topics that I cover in one way or another. I believe that if you want to get rich and stay that way, you have to know about all of these topics and more. You have to learn something new all the time. You shouldn’t try to become an expert in just one topic. That’s why we find the experts to work for us such as real estate, tax, and law professionals. That is their job and that is why we should leverage their expert knowledge when we need it. We all have a given amount of focus and power, its up to us to divide it up evenly so we have an understanding in everything money related.
Every topic I cover is valuable to those who want to be rich no matter where they are on that journey. For instance, lets say you are a college or even a high school student. You want to read up on e-commerce and eBay topics because you want to make some money online. You have a list of other blogs about making money online that you frequently visit. When you visit my blog, you feel like skipping all of my posts that don’t relate to online business, because you want to make money already. This is why you should read about all of my topics. Lets say your business takes off and you make $2000 net profit every month. You don’t know what to do with your profits so you do what any other person your age would do, you blow all of your money on a new car or other fancy stuff. Had you known more about the consequences of consumerism and the benefits of investing young, your future may turn out to be very different. It can literally determine whether you retire with $200,000 or $1,000,000.
On the flip side you may already be out of school, in your mid 30s and you already know a lot about the stock market and mutual funds. You consider yourself to be financially savvy and my posts on consumerism and saving money amuses you because you were doing that 5 years ago. But lets say you read up on my topics about building an online business or selling on eBay. You get interested and you think you can succeed so you start an online business. You would add an additional stream of income to your existing income then all of a sudden you have more money to invest. Your future may turn out to be very different.
You see, one hand feeds the other in our journey to financial freedom. One topic relates to another and further compounds your wealth. It is a combination of all of this information that greatly increases your financial knowledge and therefore increases your chances of becoming very rich. I will continue to blog about the topics that I feel are important. Remember in my Why I Started Blogging post, my first reasons for blogging is not just to make money. I blog for myself and I blog for everyone out there who is on their way to financial freedom.
So stay tuned, add this site to your list of blogs and websites. I am committed to providing well researched insight and I promise that you’ll learn something new each time you read. I will even give you a 100% money back guarantee :).
